Emotional Freedom Technique

What is EFT?

Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT), also known as “tapping”, is a simple, painless, and evidence-based technique that falls under body-centered therapy and energy psychology. It combines exposure therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy, ancient Chinese acupressure, and relaxation techniques to significantly reduce or eliminate psychological and physical distress.

How does EFT work?

Similar to acupuncture or acupressure, EFT uses tapping to stimulate acupoints in order to reduce stress in the body and regulate the fear response. Stress underlies numerous psychological and medical conditions and EFT helps to reduce the cortisol that is released when stress arises. Many areas of life are affected by stress, which makes EFT incredibly beneficial and allows for it to cover a wide range of issues. When stress is reduced, we think more clearly and therefore resolve problems more effectively.

What can EFT help?

EFT can help reduce feelings of stress, anxiety, fear, depression, resentment, and pain. Often, EFT is used to reduce symptoms of PTSD. EFT can assist in treating headaches, fatigue, sleep problems, muscle tension, fibromyalgia, IBS, joint problems, weight control, smoking cessation, allergies, high blood pressure and more.
